Keywords & Scanning

Keywords are what Replyt searches for. Each keyword runs independently across every channel you've enabled.

How keywords work

Every day at 10:00 UTC, the scanner queries each active channel (Reddit, HN, SEO) for each keyword in your project. The results are deduplicated, filtered by age and score, then ranked by relevance using AI and dropped into your Threads inbox.

Each keyword is searched as a phrase — it's not split into individual words. "project management for agencies" will only find posts that contain that exact phrase (or close variants). Keep keywords focused.

Adding keywords

Go to your project → KeywordsAdd keyword. You can add up to your plan's limit per project and toggle individual keywords on/off without deleting them.

Choosing the right keywords

Start with your product name

Anyone mentioning your product by name in a thread is already aware of you — high-intent for a reply showing you're active and responsive. Always add your product name.

Add the problem, not just the solution

People asking "how do I track which Reddit comments drive signups?" aren't searching for "Replyt" — they're searching for a solution. Target the problem:

  • ✓ "reddit marketing attribution"
  • ✓ "find threads to reply to reddit"
  • ✓ "track reddit traffic conversions"
  • ✗ "social media tool" (too broad — low-intent noise)

Competitor mentions

Threads where people ask "what's the best alternative to X?" or complain about a competitor are prime opportunities. Add competitor names or "[competitor] alternative" as keywords.

Use-case phrases

Think about the specific situation your product solves. A CRM for freelancers might target "client management freelance", "invoice tracking small business", or "freelance project tracking".

💡Start with 3–5 highly specific keywords rather than 10 generic ones. Fewer high-quality keywords → fewer threads → faster review. You can always add more once you know what works.

How matching works

Reddit

Reddit is searched via the Arctic Shift archive API, which indexes posts across subreddits. Results are filtered to posts from the last 30 days with a score above -5. The scanner runs in batches across the subreddits you configured.

Hacker News

HN is searched via Algolia's official search API, which indexes posts and comments. Results are ordered by relevance.

SEO Replies

For each keyword, Replyt searches Google for Reddit and HN threads that rank on page 1. These are high-value targets — they already have SEO traction, so your reply gets seen by Google searchers. Available on Growth plan.

Relevance scoring

After scanning, each new thread is scored 1–10 by the AI using your project's description as context. High-intent threads (score ≥ 8) appear first. Scores below 4 are typically not worth replying to.

The AI scorer uses your project's description field heavily. A clear, specific description means better relevance scores.
