Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about scanning, replies, billing, the pixel, and account management.
Why aren't my keywords finding any posts?
A few common causes:
- The keyword is too specific or uncommon — try shorter, broader variants. If "AI reply automation for Reddit" finds nothing, try "reddit reply automation".
- The subreddits are too small — small subreddits may have no recent posts matching your keyword. Try adding larger subreddits or using the defaults.
- Arctic Shift is having an outage — the Reddit scanner uses the Arctic Shift public archive. If the API is down, scans return empty. Try again the next day.
- The channel isn't enabled — check that at least one channel is active for your project under Projects → Subreddits.
How often does the scanner run?
The automated scan runs once per day at 10:00 UTC. You can also trigger a manual scan from the Threads page using the "Scan now" button — this counts toward your monthly scan quota.
Can Replyt post replies automatically?
No. Replyt generates the reply text and shows it to you — you copy it and post it manually on Reddit or HN. This is intentional.
Auto-posting gets accounts banned. Reddit's spam filters and moderators are quick to detect automated behavior. Manual posting keeps you in control and lets you review each reply before it goes live.
What is Approve & Post and how does it work?
Approve & Post is a reply queue. When you generate a reply on the Threads page, you can click + Approve & Post to add it to a queue instead of copying it immediately. The Replyt Chrome Extension then reads that queue and lets you post each reply directly into Reddit — one click per reply.
It's useful when you want to batch-prepare several replies in Replyt and then post them all in one session without switching back and forth between tabs.
Do I need the Chrome Extension to use Replyt?
No. The Chrome Extension is optional. The standard workflow — generate reply → Copy & open Reddit → paste → post — works without any extension. The Extension adds a faster path for batch posting via the Approve & Post queue, but it's not required for the core functionality.
Why does my traffic show as "Direct" instead of "Reddit"?
Reddit aggressively strips the Referer header on mobile apps, link previews, and the new Reddit UI. A portion of Reddit-sourced traffic will always appear as Direct — this is a known Reddit behavior, not a pixel bug.
You can't add UTM parameters to Reddit comment links (Reddit bans accounts that post tracking URLs). The Results dashboard uses time-window correlation (traffic spikes after replies) to show the relationship between your replies and traffic even when referrers are stripped.
Why does "Found Today" show 0 at night?
The daily scan runs at 10:00 UTC. Between midnight UTC and 10am, no new mentions have been found yet for the day — so the counter is 0. The dashboard handles this gracefully: if today's count is 0 but yesterday's count is greater than 0, it shows yesterday's count labelled "Found yesterday" with a note that the next scan runs today. This avoids a misleading "0 threads" state during the pre-scan window.
What's the difference between Scans and Replies?
Scans — one scan = one keyword searched against one channel. A project with 5 keywords and 2 channels uses 10 scans per daily run.
Replies — one reply = one time you click "Generate reply". Regenerating costs another reply credit. Editing, copying, or viewing a reply doesn't cost anything.
Do limits reset monthly?
Yes. Scan and reply counters reset on the 1st of each month at midnight UTC. Add-on packs bought during the month also reset — they don't carry over.
What is an SEO Reply?
An SEO Reply is a Reddit or HN thread that currently ranks on page 1 of Google for one of your keywords. Replying to these threads is especially valuable because your reply gets seen by everyone who searches that keyword on Google — not just the original thread participants.
SEO Replies are a Growth plan feature. The scanner checks Google rankings weekly and tracks whether threads move up or down after you reply.
What are AI Market Insights?
AI Market Insights is a weekly briefing generated from the Reddit threads Replyt has collected for your project. Every Monday, the AI reads your accumulated mentions and extracts 3 signal cards — each with a market theme, the raw data behind it, what it means for your product, and one concrete action.
Market Insights are a Growth plan feature. Trial and Starter users see a locked teaser in their daily digest. Growth users receive a separate weekly email every Monday and can also view and refresh the report from the Market Insights page in the dashboard.
How often do Market Insights update?
Automatically every Monday at 11:00 UTC. You can also trigger a manual refresh from the Market Insights page — there is a 6-hour cooldown between manual refreshes. Replyt keeps the last 8 weeks of reports per project so you can track how your market is shifting over time.
Is the pixel GDPR-compliant?
The pixel is designed to be privacy-friendly: no PII, no cross-site tracking, no cookies beyond a short-lived session ID, and data auto-purged after 90 days.
Whether you need a consent banner depends on your specific use case and jurisdiction. Since no personal data is collected, many implementations don't require one — but consult your legal team if you're unsure.
Can I use my own OpenAI / Gemini / Claude API key?
Yes. Go to Settings → Account and enter your API key. It's encrypted with AES-256 before storage and never appears in logs. Your key is used for both AI reply generation and relevance scoring.
If you don't add a key, Replyt uses its own Gemini API key on the server as a fallback — this works fine for most users and doesn't cost you anything.
What happens to my data when I cancel?
Your projects, threads, and replies are preserved for 90 days after cancellation. After that, data is permanently deleted. You can export your replied threads as a CSV from the Threads page before cancelling.
Can I try Replyt without a credit card?
Yes. The 7-day free trial requires no credit card. You get access to all core features with reduced limits (1 project, 10 scans, 25 replies). Upgrade anytime from the Billing page.
How do I export my replies?
Go to your project's Threads page. If you have any threads with a "Replied" status, a ↓ CSV download button appears in the toolbar. The CSV includes post title, URL, subreddit, keyword, score, reply text, AI model, and dates.
